Looking to delay a Facebook Pixel event?
In this video Cat Howell takes you behind the scenes of a funnel involving warming up an audience top of funnel.
THE PROBLEM
We ran video view campaigns and then a campaign sending traffic to blogs and site (conversion objective). BUT -neither of these were producing great results (video views completely flopped).
THE REASON
While our site visitor audience is our top performing warm audience, it was starting to slow down and get more expensive.
CONCLUSION
This is an indication that the traffic being sent/built top of funnel isn’t the best quality.
THE SOLUTION
We added a custom event to the site and delayed it’s trigger by 10 secs.
OTHER OPTIONS
Other ways we could have done this include:
– Optimise for percentage viewed of a page
(You can checkout Facebook’s developer guide on setting these triggers up here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/advanced/)

IMPORTANT: Never delay the base pixel – all this will do is tell Facebook you have a horribly slow page speed load time!
